Battery Disconnect Switch

4.1 First, check which side of the battery has room.
The unit mounts onto a battery terminal, and a normal installation needs about 4–5cm of clearance beside the battery to fit. So the first step is to see which side of your battery has enough space.

4.2 Positive or negative version?
Decide based on the space on each side of the battery:

  • Room on the positive side → choose the positive version.

  • Room on the negative side → choose the negative version.

  • Room on both sides → the negative version is preferred.

4.3 Safety notes for positive-side installation
If you choose the positive version, two things matter:

  1. Disconnect the negative terminal first. Disconnect the battery's negative terminal before you start, and reconnect only after the positive side is fitted — so a wrench never bridges both terminals and causes a short or a spark.

  2. Check for contact with the car body after fitting. Once the positive side is installed, check the unit's height and any exposed conductive parts on its sides to make sure they don't touch the car body. This is because the battery's negative terminal is connected to the car body — meaning the whole body is negative. If the positive side touches the body, it shorts out.

With the positive version, always confirm: once installed, the unit's height and side conductive parts keep a safe distance from the car body, with no contact at all.

4.4 The positive and negative units are the same.
The main units of the two versions are identical. The only difference is the fitting size that matches the battery post: a battery's positive post is 2mm thicker than its negative post, so the positive version's post and clamp are each 2mm larger than the negative version's.
